Before reading this Chapter, while mentioning street photography, fashion street photography was something I would immediately think about. In the new media generation, people explore and push traditional street photography into more genres because of the popularization of the smart phones and new media. Either with smart phones or camera, people can shot street photos. Stars even hire professional street photographers to shot their “beautiful photos” to attract attention from fans and get more network flow. Earlier street photography was used as a way to document history and declare political attitudes. However, who knows whether 100 years later, whether today’s fashion street photography would become documentary resources.
But it is for that very reason that the popularization of the new media, people pay more attention to their privacy and worry about unavoidable exposure on the sidewalk. “The world has become supremely conscious of being observed.” People gained the convenience from the Google Street View, but they have to be ready for getting observed through the camera.
