Rexer: Abstraction in Photography: Picture Nothing

I love abstraction. I love the simplicity and the room left for viewers to interpret abstract works, which make the understanding of abstract works be personal. It was joyful to look at others’ abstract works, but I never intentionally take a series of abstract photos. Before reading this chapter, I never thought about how to fix the limit of abstract photos, what is the meaning of abstract photography, and why abstract photography is attractive? By reading this chapter, I started to think about except for the practical usage of photography, what else photography brings to us. The understanding and usage of photos and photography should not be limited. The book was written that “isn’t photography valued because it offers images of the world that can be used for various purposes?”. Unlike painting, photography not only relies on what people create, but it also connects to something already existed. All pathways people perceiving information in this world inject fresh blood to embrace the information, emotions, and feelings of abstract photos. Their personal experiences add different colors to the photo. Viewers can flat out to feel the photo, without the directions and limitations, which is fantastic. Photographers can scramble angles and attitudes they see the world into abstract photography to break out conventions and challenge the conservative perception of abstract photos. All photos come from jessechamberlinmarble on Instagram. Watching these photos makes me realize the boundary of abstract photos is broad and abstract photos can be versatile.
